The Design
This month I’m totally inspired by my surroundings, namely the hundreds of daffodils that line my route back to the office! Their little heads bobbing in the warm sunshine never fail to make me smile, no matter how long or tough a day I’ve had.
For this Spring board I’ve gone for a vibrant yellow colour palette, combined with subtle hints of Easter. The trick with this colour scheme is to be careful with the use of the vivid yellow, as it could easily become overpowering. I’ve used the brighter shades as blocks of colour, such as for the bridesmaids’ dresses or invitations, and then blended in paler lemons and creams as a soft contrast.
I really see this wedding as being quite laid-back and informal, with a real atmosphere of fun and happiness. I imagine the bride to wear a contemporary dress that still retains an air of formality, and would dress the men in complementary outfits, such as grey or pale brown lounge suits.
I envisage a country barn or marquee as the perfect setting, and would probably arrange for an Easter egg hunt to keep children (and the young at heart!) amused during the drinks reception. Naturally daffodils would be used as the main flowers, but I’d also bring in other spring blooms, such as tulips and ranunculus, in varying shades of yellow to add depth to the bouquets and decorations.
This board could easily be adapated to a summer wedding, so I hope it’s given you plenty of inspiration!
