City in Spring

With an American bride and a Belgian/Cypriot groom, this spring wedding had a truly international feel as guests travelled to London from Europe and the United States. A very personal ceremony complete with full gospel choir was followed by a stylish restaurant reception, whilst an American-style dessert bar and plenty of Greek dancing really reflected the international flavour of the day.

The Details

The wedding ceremony was held at the bride and groom’s church in Clerkenwell, and beautiful readings and carefully chosen music made for a very personal and touching service. Background music was provided by a string quartet, whilst a full gospel choir accompanied the congregation and performed solo items that were a real hit with the guests.

After the ceremony the guests walked the short journey to the restaurant for the reception, whilst the bride and groom had some beautiful city photos taken – this was an incredibly personal part of the day as all of the photo sites had a special meaning from their time together.

Dozens of small vases of seasonal flowers in vivid shades of magenta and purple were used throughout the rustic-style restaurant, whilst over a hundred candles provided a soft atmospheric glow. Belgian chocolates brought over from the continent by the groom’s mum doubled as both favours and place cards.

The guests were treated to a delicious menu, but the real highlight came after the speeches with a surprise American-style dessert bar filled with tasty treats that included individual cheesecakes, mini Bakewell tarts, shots of chocolate mousse and an array of retro sweets.

After a carefully coreographed (and very well performed!) first dance, the groom’s dad led everyone in some traditional Greek dancing, which set the scene for the rest of the evening with nearly all of the guests occupying the dance floor.

Client Comments

“Choosing Helen as our wedding planner was one of the best decisions we made while planning our wedding. She is extremely well organised and full of great ideas. During the planning process she really listened to us and provided suggestions tailored to our needs, style and budget. We had a fantastic time on the actual day and so did our friends and family – we know without a doubt that everything would not have gone so smoothly if it weren’t for Helen’s hard work and amazing organisation!”
