As a wedding planner , people often ask me what can turn a nice wedding into a stunning event that guests will remember for years to come. Now it’s true that a beautiful venue, delicious food, attentive suppliers and good organisation are all critical elements, but what really makes the difference is the thought and attention to detail that goes into the wedding design. Tiny little touches that aren’t ‘necessary’ and can even almost go unnoticed can make a wedding truly spectacular, and ensure your wedding is a true reflection of your personalities.
So today I wanted to share some of my favourite details from real weddings around the blogosphere. There are so many beautiful ideas out there that I’ve been spoilt for choice, but what really struck me about these photos is how simple, yet effective, the details are. Most of them are inexpensive and many could be created yourself, proving that with a bit of thought and effort you can have a beautiful wedding without breaking the bank. Enjoy!
I adore this guest book table from a 1920s themed wedding over on 100 Layer Cake – so much nicer than guests having to pass a book between themselves…
…and this lovely idea for guests to help themselves to wedding programs or orders of service.
How adorable is this aisle? Who would have thought lemons could make such a statement, and what a great alternative to petals?!
Make your wedding personal by hanging photographs of you and your family around your reception – not only are they a cheap and easy form of decoration, but your guests will love them! For a rustic or country wedding you could peg them on a washing line (make sure you laminate them first to avoid them being ruined in wet weather) or for something more contemporary attach them to satin ribbon and hang from windows or on the back of doors.
Use simple decorative touches to incorporate your theme or colour scheme…
…and use lighting throughout your venue to create a romantic atmosphere. If you can’t quite manage a chandelier in a tree, then paper lanterns, fairy lights or hanging votives are great alternatives!
The best weddings are those where guests feel welcome and relaxed. Your guests are certain to remember your wedding if you’ve thought about their comfort, especially if you’ve incorporated thoughtful ideas like dancing shoes or soft, snuggly rugs for cool evenings!
