Wedding News
So we’re now less than 24 hours away from Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding, and I am ridiculously excited! I don’t really know what’s come over me, but I appear to have got caught up in the atmosphere of intense anticipation that seems to be sweeping across the whole country. People are pitching their tents along the mall, there are union jacks popping up in gardens along my road, and the social media network is absolutely buzzing with royal wedding chatter.
There’s been a huge amount of talk about the style of the day, so for my last post in this week’s special royal wedding series I wanted to share my thoughts on the design. A few snippets of information have leaked out over the past few days, not least the fact that potted trees are being installed inside Westminster Abbey, so with this in mind I’ve opted for a classic and elegant spring design with a muted natural colour palette of sage green and peach.

Winter weddings are often filled with bright reds, deep purples and glimmering shades of gold, and whilst I love the use of these colours I also like the idea of a monochromatic colour palette. This month for my regular design board posting with the lovely Little Miss Wedding
blog
I’ve opted for a predominantly white colour scheme, with plenty of sparkle for some seasonal vintage glamour. You can see the full board and explanation
here
, and whilst you’re there make sure you check out some of the other fabulous posts from blogger Emmie.

As regular readers of my little blog will know, every month I share a feature design board over on the fabulous Little Miss Wedding

. So as it’s nearly Christmas and all I can think about is mulled wine and mince pies (!), my latest offering has a contemporary festive feel that will hopefully bring a touch of cheer to these deepest days of winter – you can see the board and full explanation of the concept
here

For me, winter is a great source of inspiration when it comes to wedding design – there’s just so much you can do with colour schemes and decor, from a palette of pure white for a frosty feel, to rich jewel colours of purple and teal or festive shades of red and gold. Check out my latest winter-inspired design board on the Little Miss Wedding blog

If, like me, you’re a bit of a
True Blood
fan you’ll have probably heard the news last week that Anna Saquin and Stephen Moyer (aka Sookie Stackhouse and Bill Compton) tied the knot in a private ceremony on a beach in Malibu. So today’s board is a sexy and sultry offering inspired by the hit vampire TV series – I’ll be honest, you do need to be a bit daring for this one!

Mood Board Monday #29 – English Country Elegance

Today’s design board is a concept that I created a few weeks ago for one of my August brides, and is based on the idea of an elegant English country wedding. I’ve teamed dusky shades of pink and purple with soft sage green for a real summery feel, with a smattering of peach in the floral arrangements to add depth to the colour palette.

I’ve just about had enough of the miserable weather lately, and as I’m eagerly looking forward to spring I thought today I’d share this blue and peach board with you. This is actually one of the design concepts that I recently created for a client’s wedding in August, but I think it would work just as well for a March or April wedding.

Pastel colours are very popular for spring and summer weddings, but they are often overlooked in winter in favour of more vibrant tones. However, I think these delicate shades are the perfect complement for this time of year, and are an excellent way of injecting warmth into a refreshing white colour scheme. So today I’ve used pastel shades of blue, purple and pink to create an elegant, wintry wedding design.

Our first monthly design board of 2010 is now live and can be seen

. As the entire country seems to have transformed into the North Pole at the moment, I felt it was only fitting to create a rustic, snowy board that embraces the beauty of these wintry conditions.

This will be the last inspiration board for 2009, and with Christmas only a few days away I couldn’t resist creating a festive design. In contrast to the contemporary styles of the last few winter boards, today I’ve opted for a more traditional palette of berry red, holly green and warm gold that would be perfect for a Christmas wedding.

With temperatures below freezing and white-over frosts in a morning, winter seems to have now well and truly arrived. Even as I’m writing this there are large snowflakes billowing around outside my window! So today I’ve taken my inspiration from the seasonal weather and have designed a cool, wintry board that would be perfect for a December or January wedding.
