I was looking through my design boards last week, and noticed that most of them use palettes of greens, pinks and yellows. So, I decided to balance things up by creating a board using shades of purple and blue.
I imagine this wedding taking place in late summer or early autumn, and see it being an elegant rustic affair, possibly in a barn or a marquee in the grounds of a country house. I’d use loose floral arrangements with seasonal English flowers for decoration, and lots of candles to create a romantic atmosphere. I’d also use lavender plants throughout the reception, both for their colour and also for their delicate fragrance.
For favours I’m picturing sachets of lavender for the ladies and pots of heather or rosemary for the men. I love the idea of keeping a formal seating arrangement for the wedding breakfast, but also incorporating the country feel by writing names on pieces of slate. I’m imagining a ceilidh or country dance for the evening, using hay bales for extra seating and providing guests with soft blankets to snuggle up in.
