As part of our Best Blogs series, today I’m showcasing the fabulous Style Me Pretty . When it comes to wedding blogs, they don’t come much bigger or better than this one! Headed by Abby Larson, SMP is dedicated to showcasing some of the most beautiful and inspiring weddings that are created by real brides and grooms on real budgets.
What I really love about SMP is the fact that their weddings are very design-oriented and personal to the couple, meaning it’s a great place to find ideas and inspiration. The weddings that are featured are truly beautiful, but they’re not necessarily big-budget events. There are lots of DIY and ‘backyard’ weddings where brides have made invitations, favours and decorations, which are great for getting ideas on how you can create a really stylish and unique celebration without having to spend a small fortune.
In addition to real weddings there are also features by selected wedding vendors, as well as fashion ideas and design boards. The suppliers that contribute to SMP are seriously talented, and their work is often genuinely breathtaking, but as it’s an American blog you probably aren’t going to find these contacts particularly useful unless you’re getting married in the States. However, their style of work is often quite different to what we see here in the UK, so I would definitely recommend browsing through as you’re sure to find some more unusual and quirky ideas that you could translate to your own wedding. I would particularly recommend taking a look at the different styles of photography showcased on the site, as I find it’s often quite different to what’s normally on offer here, and it may give you ideas for how you would like your own wedding day to be recorded.
SMP is actually much more than just a blog. All of the photos are also stored in categorised galleries, meaning you can easily browse flowers, cakes, invitations and reception decor to name just a few. There’s also the Look Book , which showcases the latest gowns from designers like Vera Wang, Monique Lhuillier and Amsale, as well as the Style Circle , where you can collect images together to create your own design boards (see my full report on this feature here ).
As you might now have guessed, I love reading SMP! The site is well organised, informative and an excellent source of inspiration. Abby posts new features several times a day, so it’s one for the more hardcore bride, but I would say that it is among the best wedding blogs for design inspiration. So find a spare hour, grab a cup of tea and be prepared to enjoy some seriously beautiful wedding eye candy!
