Like many other wedding planners, I spend a fair bit of my time reading wedding blogs. They are fantastic sources of inspiration and are packed with all sorts of features, including DIY projects, real weddings, supplier showcases and new products out on the market. My head’s usually buzzing with ideas after just a few minutes of reading!

So I thought I’d share some of my favourite blog reads with you over the next few months. Hopefully you’ll enjoy reading them as much as I do, and will find them useful when it comes to designing and planning your own wedding day. The first one I wanted to highlight is Temple of Groom , which is a bit different from most wedding blogs in that it’s run by a groom planning his forthcoming wedding.

I love Temple of Groom – partly for the name alone, but mainly because it’s so refreshing to read about wedding planning from a male perspective.  It’s run by SuperDave, who is getting married in October 2010, and I just love his take on wedding planning. It’s an honest and down-to-earth read that shows grooms the fun and interesting sides to wedding planning (come on guys, give me a chance!), and helps brides understand how to involve their fiancé in the wedding plans. I particularly liked this comment:

“For now, let’s skip details like colours, centerpieces, and what flowers to use. Let’s start with things we’re really interested in: musical entertainment, food & alcohol, and the photographer”

And it’s true. Most men aren’t interested in flowers, but get them talking about the ‘party’ side of things and you’ve got more chance of seeing some enthusiasm.

SuperDave posts around 10-12 times a month, which I think is about right for this type of conversational blog. Go check it out and make sure your groom does, too – you never know; it might bring out the hidden wedding planner in him..!
