I have another rustic board to share with you today, which will be the last of our autumnal design concepts. I’m still finding myself hugely inspired by the colours and features of the season, and this week I’ve based my wedding design around the humble acorn.
In keeping with the seasonal colours I’ve chosen a colour palette of browns and soft greens, although I would probably also incorporate hints of golden yellows and burnt oranges for added warmth. I can see this wedding taking place in an old barn, with a roaring log fire creating a warm and cosy atmosphere. I’d serve hearty seasonal fare, and would also incorporate a dessert table of home-made pies, crumbles and biscuits for guests to help themselves.
Acorns are naturally a prominent feature of the design, and I would use them extensively for decoration. They could easily be used to fill various sized vases as stand-alone centrepieces, but I’d also like to see them filling oversized martini glasses with cascading floral arrangements sitting on top to create a ‘falling leaves’ effect. The best thing about this is that it can be done for free – all you need to do is spend a little bit of time collecting them in the woods!
