I have to admit that I’m not the biggest fan of Halloween, but even so I still love the idea of a holding a Halloween-themed wedding. Now I’m not talking about anything outrageous, like guests attending in fancy dress or monsters scattered around the reception room, but rather using blended tones and decor to add a touch of glamorous spookiness to the proceedings.

For this board I’ve used a classic Halloween colour palette of black and burnt orange, with accents of deep purple to avoid the orange becoming overpowering. I really like the sharp contrast between the deep night-time colours and the bright orange hues.

This wedding design is all about using the right decorations to bring in the Halloween theme, without it feeling over the top or becoming more like a party. Pumpkins would be a major source of decoration, and I’d use them as lanterns to line the entrance to the venue, as well as on tables as centrepiece planters or as table number holders. I’d also use smaller gourds and squashes as votives, and would scatter them around the venue for added character.

Candles are also an integral component of this wedding design, and using candlelight as the main source of lighting would help cast long shadows and create a more eerie atmosphere. I’d also like to add cobwebs to fireplaces, stair banisters and windowsills to continue the theme in a subtle and understated manner. I love the idea of this wedding taking place in an old castle or manor house, or even in a marquee in the grounds of historic ruins for a more modern, yet still spooky, feel.
