Mood Board Monday #24 – Merry Christmas

This will be the last inspiration board for 2009, and with Christmas only a few days away I couldn’t resist creating a festive design. In contrast to the contemporary styles of the last few winter boards, today I’ve opted for a more traditional palette of berry red, holly green and warm gold that would be perfect for a Christmas wedding.

I see this wedding having quite a rustic style, and imagine guests  enjoying mulled wine and mince pies on arrival, followed by a hearty festive feast of traditional turkey and Christmas pudding. I love the idea of carol singers providing background music during the drinks reception, with a huge Christmas tree taking centre stage in the reception space.

In keeping with the seasonal theme I’d use wreaths of holly and white roses for centrepieces, with large church candles providing a warm and cosy atmosphere. I’d also hang place cards on the Christmas tree, and leave guests striped candy canes as favours. In addition to a live band for the evening I would also set up a cosy lounge area, where guests can relax with a hot toddy in front of a log fire and perhaps enjoy a ’vintage’ game of cards, dominoes or scrabble.

I think I’m just about ready for Santa to visit me now – Happy Christmas!
