Photo of the Week

I adore this photo from
Kiss The Groom
by the super talented
Elizabeth Messina
. I love the combination of the cheeky little dress and long flowing veil, but what really drew me to this image was the way the veil has been drawn around the couple during a passionate kiss, almost to try and shut the world out just for a single moment – bliss!

Spotlight On...
I was recently introduced to the luxury online wedding directory,
The Ebury Collection
. Now I do admit that I’m not normally a big fan of wedding directories – quite often I find them packed with too much information, difficult to navigate and frustrating to use. However, The Ebury Collection is completely different. The unfussy and elegant layout is easy on the eye, and the supplier and venue listing format makes it easy to find exactly what you are looking for.

Photo of the Week

I was instantly drawn to this beautiful photo that I spotted in
this
real wedding post on
The Wedding Vine
earlier this week. It’s often easy to overlook the photo opportunities that are available later in the evening, but I just love the way that photographer
David Pullum
has used the fading light to capture this stunning silhouette shot.

Real Wedding – Bita and Seun: The Design
Thursday, October 21st, 2010

Real Weddings
Earlier this week I posted a feature on Bita and Seun’s
wedding
that took place in July, and today I would like to share some of the details of the day with you. One of the best feelings for me as a wedding planner is bringing a couple’s ideas to life and seeing all of the details come together on the wedding day.
Bita and Seun wanted a stylish and elegant wedding, and chose a summery colour scheme of green and white with hints of deep purple. This was the original design concept that we worked from throughout the planning process:

Real Wedding – Bita and Seun, Surrey

Real Weddings
Back at the end of July I had the pleasure of organising Bita and Seun’s wedding. As Bita and Seun live in Switzerland they opted for our
full planning
service, and their limited time in the UK coupled with just 5 months planning time meant there was certainly no time for hanging around with this wedding! It was great to see everything come together so well on the day and to see Bita and Seun so happy.

This photo over on
Style Me Pretty
caught my eye this week. I love the fact that amidst all the hubbub of a wedding day, this couple have sneaked off for 5 minutes alone together. A wedding day goes so quickly, so be sure to cherish every moment of it.

Planning Advice
Autumn is a great time to get married – an explosion of vibrant colours, coupled with harvest festivals and Halloween are all great inspiration for styling a wedding. It’s also outside of peak wedding season, so you may well save a fair bit of money on venue hire.
However, autumn is also one of the most unpredictable times in terms of weather. Now I know in this country you can’t really guarantee the weather at any time of year, but autumn is perhaps more mixed than most – one day you’re enjoying warm rays of sunshine, and the next you’re digging out the winter woollies and waterproof boots.
So what do you do to make sure that our fickle climate doesn’t spoil your special day?

Wedding Styling
Lighting plays a huge part in creating the right atmosphere for a wedding, but it usually isn’t something that’s high on the priority list or even thought about until the last minute. However, using lighting in the right way can make a massive difference in transforming a plain venue, and is also a great way of complementing the mood for different stages of the day – for example, a subtle and romantic glow is perfect for the ceremony, but how about going for something a bit funky for your evening party? There are lots of ways in which lighting can be used throughout a wedding, and today I want to share a few of my particular favourites.
