Photo Shoot at 58 Princes Gate
Thursday, February 11th, 2010
Just before Christmas I was approached by Elodie, the marketing executive of a new London wedding venue, to assist with an upcoming photo shoot for their wedding brochure and website. 58 Princes Gate is owned and managed by Imperial College London, and is a beautiful Edwardian building that is tucked away in the heart of South Kensington. It already successfully hosts corporate meetings, seminars and private dinners, but this year is looking to open its doors to brides and grooms who are looking for an exclusive and intimate central London venue.
After viewing the venue and chatting with the team about the look they wanted to create, I recommended a pastel green and pale pink colour scheme for flowers and accessories. Not only did this complement the neutral decor already in place, but it also created a classic and elegant atmosphere in keeping with the style of the venue. The Garden Room looked particularly beautiful laid out for a formal wedding breakfast:
Tall floral arrangements, created in-house by events manager Maria, were used to accentuate the height and openness of the room, whilst tea lights in frosted votives and scattered rose petals added a touch of romance to each table:
58 Princes Gate has a charming interior and boasts many period features, including open fireplaces and ornate plasterwork, as well as an airy entrance hall and a beautiful winding staircase that offers an ideal site for indoor photographs.
The main reception space is on the ground floor, with guests making their way upstairs for the evening celebration in the oak-panelled Ballroom and adjoining Billiard Room. However, my favourite room has to be the Oak Room – a small, intimate space that would be suitable for bridal preparations, or perfect as a secret snug for the bride and groom to enjoy a few precious moments alone together either before guests arrive for the drinks reception or during the evening party:
58 Princes Gate will be taking wedding bookings later this year, with a package price of £49.50 + VAT per person. I’ll be posting another feature once the website goes live, but if you are interested in finding out more information or checking availability then get in touch with Elodie .
